Australia was among the first countries where Google Home Hub was launched. In just a couple of months, the Hub was responsible for as much as 41.5% of smart displays in the country. Amazon Echo Show and Spot had only 13.2% market share even though they were released earlier than Google Home Hub.
The fact that they love Google as a brand was a major factor for increasing the adoption of the Home Hub. At the time, Australia had a 29% smart speaker adoption rate compared to only 26% in the United States. Regarding the smart displays, Australia boasts of 22.2% to 13.2% in the US.
Smart display functionality won’t long be limited to standalone devices. Increasingly, the voice-plus-visual experience will also be offered on smart TVs.
Samsung is working on this with Bixby. Smart devices are specific gadgets designed to improve the voice interactive experience of the user. It is not just a device created to serve a particular function. Smart displays are now increasingly seen in bedrooms, kitchens, and living rooms.
