“Alexa, Order Room Service.” Your Favorite Hotel May Now Include Amazon Echo Devices
Amazon’s Alexa will now be seen in hotel rooms from this summer onwards.
Amazon announced a special version of its virtual assistant, Alexa for Hospitality, that will live across Echo devices placed in hotels, vacation rentals, and other similar locations. Alexa in these devices will be able to do special things for both hospitality professionals and their customers.
The hotels also have the option of customizing their experiences, such as creating specific Alexa Skills that only their users and guests can use, choosing music services, and monitor device’s status and connectivity issues. Guests staying in an Echo room can either feel that the experience is invasive or useful. The customers can request Alexa to answer questions about hotel services, order room service, and control some connected devices within the room, such as the lights and blinds.
It also has a Flight Tracker with which they can check their flight’s status. Alexa for Hospitality devices can be muted, although it is yet to be seen if there is a disconnect feature for guests do not want it at all. It will be first seen in Westin Hotels & Resorts, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, Marriott Hotels, Aloft Hotels, and Autograph Collection Hotels.
