Amazon And Google Dominate The U.S. Smart Speaker Market, With Sales Up 40% In 2018
Smart speaker adoption grew by 40% in the last year, according to Voicebot and Voicify’s latest report.
This influx of new users brings smart speaker adoption to Phase 2, characterized by “an influx of more casual users but also by the introduction of new product form factors and new manufacturers.”
One of the major changes seen here was the introduction of smart displays by Google and Amazon. More companies have started work on this, such as Klipsch, Bang & Olufsen, and Sonos. While there are now more options in the market, Amazon and Google continue to dominate the market with an 85% share.
As of now, Amazon Echo leads the way with 61% market share. While Amazon’s share dipped a little, Google’s has been rising slowly but steadily. The new users are not very likely to use their smart devices daily.
In 2018, 64% said they use their devices daily, but the numbers took a big hit in 2019 with only 47% users. In spite of the decrease in daily usage, adoption of smart speakers will continue to boom.
