Amazon Launches New Features For Alexa Developers
Amazon is launching as many as 31 new features and tools for developers to create skills for Alexa. These improvements to the Alexa Skills Kit (ASK) give us a peek into the future of voice tech. Some of them are for creating better conversational experiences with Alexa while others are for creating multi-modal Alexa skills. The team believes that voice is the foundation for Alexa and they need to work on natural language improvement to make it better for the users.
Meanwhile, some big brands have tapped Alexa as an additional channel through which to reach customers. As brands like Uber, Domino’s, Capital One, and Starbucks look for ways to extend their business strategy.
Amazon is planning to adopt Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) that will allow Alexa to improve its natural language understanding (NLU) of individual words and sentence. Alexa Conversations, a new dialog manager, will let developers create more naturally flowing conversations with customers. Web API for Games allows developers to build multi-modal, Alexa-activated, interactive games for devices with screens while Skill Resumption that runs quietly in the background and pops up give you an alert or message. The last one is an idea of how we can start using Alexa outside our homes and get the best out of it. Other new features include Quick Links for Alexa, Alexa for Apps, and NFI Toolkit.
