Amazon Partnering With Homebuilders And Hotels To Add Smart Speakers And Smart Devices
Amazon is in talks with many hoteliers and homebuilders to make its range of smart speakers and AI a part of day-to-day life. The homeowners can use Alexa to lock the doors, switch on and off the lights, play music, and listen to news and weather reports. Amazon’s Echo devices powered by Alexa has become very popular since its release in 2014. The company is hiring speech and data scientists and software engineers to improve Alexa’s conversation skills.
Homebuilder Quadrant has been selling thermostats and internet-enabled doorbell cameras for a long time now.
The Echo had the widest range of functions and was compatible with the most off-the-shelf smart-home technology, he said. But the biggest differentiator, Pallemaerts said, was Amazon’s in-house installation and repair service, which launched without much fanfare last year.
Quadrant homes chose to go with Alexa because of the wide range of services and functionalities offered.
Volara is a company that creates software for about 40 hotels that handle in-room guests. These in-room devices can answer a range of common questions like the good restaurants nearby and the password for the Wi-Fi. Smart speakers have won hearts everywhere with their effectiveness.
