Amazon’s Alexa Devices May Have Higher Sales But Google Home Reigns Supreme When It Comes To Customer Satisfaction
There have been a lot of surveys on smart speakers. In a first, the latest one from Kantar Worldpanel compares the attitude of the Google Home and Amazon Alexa owners. The basic findings report that Google Home owners use their smart speakers more and are more satisfied with them compared to the Alexa devices. Apart from the common functions like streaming music and looking up traffic, Google Home users use their devices for a lot more.
In particular, owners of Google Home are more likely to make calls, control smart home devices, check business hours and order food or groceries.
Demographically speaking, Alexa owners are more female and older than Google Home users. Google Home users are using their desktops and laptops lesser after purchasing a smart speaker. It works almost as a replacement device. The survey also came to the conclusion that Google Home owners are more likely to integrate multiple smart home devices than Alexa owners.
Since the research did not focus on specific device types, it is not clear if smart displays play any major here in driving certain behavior. While Alexa has a more dominant presence and is leading the market, this study estimates that Google Home will eventually overtake Alexa.
