Amazon’s Dash Smart Shelf Tracks And Automatically Re-Stocks
Amazon recently released Fire TV Blaster, its consumer-focused smart product. The company is now working with its business users after the announcement of the Amazon Dash Smart Shelf. Amazon is gearing up to offer its customers the option of a small (7-by-7 inches), medium (12-by-10 inches), or large (18-by-13 inches) smart shelf.
You plug it in (or use four AAA batteries), connect it to the Amazon app over Wi-Fi, and then select a product type and quantity to store on it.
The Dash Smart Shelf comes with a built-in scale that can track the quantity of the products available and order new supply once the existing stock reaches a certain level. It can also alert the staff when the stock is low. Although the idea is pretty simple, it looks to be an effective one.
Most businesses would appreciate the idea of a device looking out to tell them when they are running low so that they never have to tell no to a customer. Amazon works by tying up the smart scale owners to purchase directly without manual intervention, making sure that the process works seamlessly. After the initial setup, no human interaction is needed.
While it seems like a great idea, it comes with its limitations. You can only place one type of product at one time, so you might need different shelves for multiple products. The product is on a pilot trial currently. The launch date is yet to be determined.
