An ’80s Movie Managed To Predict Smart Home Living Reasonably Accurately
Predicting the future is something close to impossible but an ’80s movie called “Back to the Future Part II” gave us an eerily accurate look at the future — now the present — connected home, though they never referred to their automated domicile as a “smart home.” There are multiple predictions in the movie that show a reference to smart home devices operating around us today.
Phones, fingerprints and even fax machines all integrated with the house as the central hub.
Currently, 65% of U.S. households have at least one connected smart device. This growth is expected to increase gradually over the coming years. With app fatigue taking a heavy toll, it is expected that the integration of apps will help in reducing the app communication the user is expected to do. This refers to everything controlled from one single place – a concept of home OS. The idea of a smart home is to make life easier and simpler than before. Though the current system pulls that off, there is a long way to go before we can actually enjoy a truly smart home.
