An Adaptable Outlet For Your Smart Home, Swidget Can Control Multiple Smart Home Devices From Just One Outlet.
Ontario-based Swidget has announced the availability of its modular power outlet that will accept interchangeable smart inserts to control a variety of smart home stuff.
Without the insert, it is just a wall outlet. However, with the insert, the device can control multiple smart home devices. This can be done via a smart home hub on Z-Wave or ZigBee or via your smartphone app. It is easy to set up and use and can adapt itself to evolving technologies.
Swidget is perfect for those looking to start their smart home journey. One can also expand their current ecosystem without making a mess. The price varies based on the functionalities available. Basic functions include night lights, emergency lights, USB charging, and more.
The individual inserts can be popped out with a pinch. Other inserts are expected to offer more options like built-in digital assistants, motion sensors, and real-time video camera. The company demonstrated its ability at the CES 2019.
The Swidget is first set to be released to the backers and later on, to the general public. The primary advantage of this is that it frees up the outlet space while preventing the need for additions.
