And The Survey Says… Consumers Are Seeing The Value Of Connected Devices. And It’s Showing In Smart Speaker Sales.
Park & Associates’ research tells us that as much as 75% of the respondents believe in the value of their connected devices.
The firm also surveyed respondents about the top reasons for buying from a specific smart home device brand, with the most popular answer being “the brand was recommended by family or friends”.
The second popular reason was that the brand had great reviews online. No answer stood out and most of the reasons had a good amount of support. The smart speakers with voice assistants have grown by leaps and bounds from 3% in 2016 to 31% in 2018. While smart thermostats can be seen in about 13% of US houses, smart security cameras account for 10%. In one-third of houses having broadband, there is sure to be a connected device.
Consumers have beginning to trust the smart home devices, with the smart speakers being the most popular. It doesn’t hurt that it is cheap as well. Amazon’s marketing strategy of giving away free Echo smart speakers during the holiday season helped the company move ahead of Google. Smart thermostats are becoming more popular as well, thanks to their ability to offer convenience while saving energy and money too.
