Another Fighter Steps In The Ring – Comcast Reveals Their Smart Home Ambitions
Comcast’s intention of coming into the smart home market was quite clear with its purchase of Stringify. It launched Stringify again under its wings and gave us a better idea of its vision.
Stringify is a smart home routines app that hooks in all your devices and starts helping them work together. And it’s just been re-released with a new look design and a bunch of Comcast-specific features that shows how it sees the smart home market playing out.
Comcast’s X1 box acts as the hub for recording watching, and streaming offering. With Stringify, it now lets you add TV to routines. Some use cases of the same include getting a notification on your TV if there is anyone at the door and changing the TV channel according to a routine, such as “family movie night routine”. It can also set the temperature and dim the lights according to your needs.
Users can pause and later, continue the WiFi so that the devices will be paused at certain times, such as during meal times, homework time, and more. Comcast’s Wear OS smartwatch app lets you control your smart home. While Google and Amazon use smart speakers, Comcast is working with TV.
