Apple Is Getting Serious About The Smart Home Market By Hiring Longtime Microsoft Channel Chief And Founder Of Smart Lock Maker Otto
Sam Jadallah, the former Microsoft Channel Chief, joined Apple recently. He aims to make Apple’s entry into the smart home space smooth. His LinkedIn page mentions his role at Apple as “Working on Home”.
Jadallah will be leading Apple’s home business, which is where Apple’s HomeKit and Siri-powered HomePod are designed. He is known to be one of the most popular channel chiefs in Microsoft. He retained that post for almost a decade before he left. Holbrook is an N.Y.-based solution provider. Bob Venero, the CEO of Holbrook, says that the company will benefit a great deal from Jadallah’s expertise and skills.
Apple has the potential to bring its home automation services past the Apple TV to more HomePod components, and back into its devices and wearables.
As HomePod lags behind Google and Amazon devices, the new chief is asked to work on HomeKit to improve its hardware. HomePod’s market share in 2018 was just 4.1%. Jadallah is also the founder of Otto, a connected smart lock manufacturer. Otto, now suspended, had a number of members on its team from Apple.
