Are AI Cloud-Based Platforms The Solution For Securing Your Smart Home?
Marcio Avillez, SVP of networks at CUJO AI, has come up with many ways of thwarting threats to smart homes. Cybercriminals gain access to connected devices for spying, using the gadget to launch a DDoS attack or use the device for bitcoin mining. According to Avillez, machine learning and AI could provide a solution for this.
Enterprises usually use a firewall box with powerful computational abilities of decryption. However, consumers who use connected devices for their home cannot do this. The solution lies in using AI and ML platforms for threat analysis and in leveraging data.
To detect threats, AI-enabled cloud-based platforms need to identify specific home devices, analyze their network activity and identify when behavior is abnormal for a particular device. To support this threat detection strategy, the system must quickly amass data in order to establish what activity is normal for that device, and to which vulnerabilities it is most likely to be exposed.
When an unusual activity is detected, the users are notified via their app. They need to respond whether it is legitimate or not. The security approach needs to be tailored for every house. That is the only way this can work.
