Can You Really Get $100K If You Find A Bug On Microsoft’s Smart Home Software?
With smart home picking up the pace in the last few years, big players have been investing hugely in order to ensure that they stay at the top. Microsoft is one such competitor. Azure Sphere is an upcoming platform for smart home devices such as smart cameras and garage doors. In order to ensure that security is one of the best features, Microsoft has declared that they will offer $100,000 to anyone who can find a way to break into their system.
Azure Sphere combines an approved processor with Microsoft’s own customized version of Linux called Sphere OS and a security service to detect problems and issue updates.
In order to find flaws, one will have to register on their website to get access to their developer tools. The deadline to find vulnerabilities is Aug 31. Such monetary prizes in the past have helped companies in finding unknown bugs/security flaws. Especially when there are going to be devices around every nook and corner, it is more than essential to ensure that the security is top-notch. This is one of the first projects that Microsoft is working that is based on its own version of Linux.
