Despite The Rapid Growth Of Google, Alexa’s Skills Library Still Reigns Supreme
Google Assistant has grown a lot smarter with new tricks, features, and the ability to learn new things.
The annual developer conference is also a good straw poll of how the intelligent assistant’s third-party ecosystem is growing.
Cortana, Google Assistant, Alexa, and Siri are all improving their selection of tasks that the voice assistants can perform. While Google calls them Actions and Amazon calls them Skills, it all comes down to the same thing. With the number of Actions for Google Assistant increasing from 1,719 to 4,253 in less than a year, the company’s expansion still falls behind Amazon Alexa.
Alexa’s Skills library is extremely large and in spite of Google’s rapid growth, the company still needs to put in more effort to catch up to Amazon. It is important to note that the number of both Google Assistant’s Actions and Alexa’s Skills are magnified due to duplications. However, this shows the developer activity which is a good thing.
