Enjoy Smart Neighborhoods With Amazon Sidewalk – Everything You Should Know About It
Amazon, one of the leaders in the smart home industry, is visioning to create a smart neighborhood using their latest technology called the Amazon Sidewalk. The idea is to utilize a small part of your home’s Wi-Fi bandwidth to communicate with other Amazon devices in the neighborhood. The signals are passed through low-energy Bluetooth and 900MHz radio signals. This will create a mesh around the local neighborhood to help the local community.
Maybe most noteworthy of all is that Amazon Sidewalk won’t require any new hardware, at least not for short-range benefits like easier device pairing.
All the updates will be rolled out on existing Amazon devices. Consumers across the globe are concerned about the security and privacy features that the program will bring. Amazon has promised that transmissions via Sidewalk will be private and secure. Amazon’s server will authenticate your data and the traffic is said to be diverted to the right place automatically and the company will not be reading or collecting the data for their use. All information is also deleted in 24 hours. Another good point of Sidewalk is that it is not going to use much of the bandwidth. Amazon has set a cap of 500MB per month but this might never be reached. Most Amazon and Ring devices will receive this update over the air in the upcoming months.
