Google Announces Google Assistant’s New Feature Ambient Mode At IFA. But What Exactly Is It?
Google revealed Google Assistant’s new feature at the IFA – the Ambient Mode.
On a few upcoming Android phones and tablets, this new mode will turn those devices into something like a Google Nest Hub (née Google Home Hub) display when docked.
It will be then able to show you weather details, calendar info, reminders, smart home controls, and more. Similar to the Nest Hub smart display, you will be able to see a slideshow of photos running from your Google Photos. This feature will work on Lenovo tablets, Pixel phones, and even on the soon-to-be-released Nokia phones. The major advantage with this is that you can take it along with you since it is an Android phone and the fact that you can use it as a home remote.
While it may seem that the Ambient Mode copies some functionalities of the Nest Hub, it is not so. The interface is completely different. One reason why they have not just used the Nest Hub software is that Android devices may not take well to it. It could also mean that the Google Assistant is now getting more features than ever. Besides this, Google also announced that the multiple third-party devices will be gaining Google Assistant support.
