Google Assistant Routines Allows You To Group Home Automation Tasks Into One Simple Voice Command
Google recently introduced Routines in the US. Routines lets you group activities so that you do not need to work on individually activating each device. It works in a similar fashion to Apple HomeKit ecosystem or Scenes from Amazon. Only one Routine is live so far – Good Morning. There are six more on the way and quite soon too!
Good Morning replaces My Day (which is still available in the UK and Australia) which gave you updates about weather, traffic, news, and your calendar. Good Morning adds the ability to turn on lights, adjust thermostats, and more. It can even take your phone off silent mode if activated using an Android phone.
Some additional modes in the system include traveling to and from office, leaving and coming back to the house, and going to sleep. They are named Commuting to Work, Commuting Home, I’m Home, Leaving Home, and Bedtime. The system can play music, set alarms, send messages, and of course, control and manage smart devices. The best part is that Google Assistant works out the voice difference between people and each person can customize their routine.
