Google Has Embraced Third-Party Smart Device Makers With Bose, Sonos, And Lenovo Now Including The Google Assistant
Google Assistant can now be seen on certain Bose and Sonos smart speakers, both of which only had Alexa support until now. Lenovo’s Smart Clock has in-built Google Assistant as well. It has alarm functions, traffic, and weather and is likely to compete with Amazon’s Echo Spot. This Smart Clock is great for Google since it brings the company’s ecosystem a new range of device as Google doesn’t have anything at the moment that can compete with the Echo Spot.
Google, by embracing third-party device makers, is building out a range of supported voice assistant base devices that could offer consumers more choice than its rival Amazon.
Google and its partners are working to expand the ecosystem but most of Amazon’s ventures are in-house. You will see Google Assistant in Lenovo, LG, and JBL products, but so far, there are no Alexa-enabled third-party counterparts. This fact has majorly limited the scope of Amazon’s ecosystem and the company needs to go ahead and work with third-party manufacturers if it wants to stay ahead in the game.
