Google’s Smart Home Company Nest Has A Connected Device For Every Aspect Of Your Life
Google’s Nest is now selling 11 different connected devices, such as the Nest x Yale lock, the Nest Hello doorbell, and the Nest Temperature Sensor. Nest started out with Learning Thermostat. The round thermostats were a bit different from the usually available rectangles ones.
The thermostat developed by Nest was multi-functional, Wi-Fi-enabled, and app-connected. The company has sold over 11 million devices till now. In 2014, Google purchased Nest and Dropcam was purchased by Nest. Amazon also came up with its Echo device in the same year. All of Nests’s devices are designed to work together.
For instance, if you unlock the Nest x Yale lock on your front door, your Nest Cam IQ Indoor can stop recording while you're home for privacy, your Nest Thermostat E can adjust to your preferred temperature and your Nest Secure alarm system can disarm -- all automatically. That sort of automation is great when it works, but not so great when it's difficult to configure.
Nest is working to add Assistant to some of the smart devices, such as Nest Cam IQ Indoor. Though it will work like a Home Mini or Google Home, the IQ cannot make calls, play music, or get you the news.
