The biggest piece of news was regarding iOS 13, due to release this fall. Apple’s HomeKit device partners are talking about products that will be featuring these capabilities. This is a great move to expand the HomeKit ecosystem.
While Nanoleaf is admittedly a niche smart lighting product, an update that will turn its Nanoleaf Canvas lighted tiles into customizable smart home buttons will add even more novelty and perhaps some real practicality to the product.
Neato robot vacuums recently announced that there would now be Siri Shortcuts. Users would now be able to use voice to direct the cleaning robot. This might even be seen in the Smarter Coffee Machine. Making Siri more compatible with products is an area Apple has been lagging for ages.
Siri Shortcuts is an excellent way of making Siri more conversational. Apple is also known for its policies to protect the privacy of its customers, especially with Secure Video. Other companies took this opportunity to announce HomeKit updates to their products, such as the company Lifx, which is working on Z TV Light Strip and a candle bulb with Polychrome technology.
