How Far Will The Smart Device Wars Go Between Google And Amazon?
Consumers will not able to shop for Nest products on Amazon. This move comes after Amazon made the decision, not to stock Google’s latest smart home devices. There are speculations that Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, has decided this.
In response, Nest has resolved to discontinue dealings with Amazon, meaning currently available items like the Nest Security Camera and third-generation Nest Learning Thermostat will disappear from Amazon's digital shelves once existing stock runs dry. A source said Nest wants to present customers its entire lineup or nothing at all, the report said.
Amazon is looking to make a place for itself in the smart home market. Alexa’s virtual assistant ecosystem is quite successful, letting Amazon dream bigger. Amazon just acquired Ring, the smart door maker.
Amazon is currently not listing Chromecast or Pixel smartphones while Google is not letting Amazon's FireTV platform and Echo Show access YouTube. Amazon also had a disagreement with Apple when it stopped listing Apple TV. Later, Amazon reinstated the sales of Apple TV and is looking to do the same with Chromecast.
