Huge Growth For Smart Home Security In 2018
Security Sales & Integration partnered with Parks Associates in the event of the annual Residential Security Market Report. Residential security dealers have had an increase of 7.72% in their business. The study included 170 dealers and found out that dealers are facing margin challenges and new competition.
The average installations per month are about 8 for home security systems for small dealers. Most of these devices requested are either the standard models. Very few of these are professionally monitored as most of the homeowners don’t want to pay an extra monthly fee.
A great change seen in the last half-decade is the increase in interactivity for the security system. Alarm.com is the most popular interactivity vendor followed by Honeywell Total Connect. Though none of the smart security devices have crossed the 50% mark, they are likely to in the near future. The DIY market is getting better by the day too.
Among the approximately one-third of installing dealers that also sell DIY systems, half report selling more of those in 2017 than in 2016. It is certainly not all doom and gloom, however. The expansion of security to include increasingly sophisticated smart home options plays to installers’ strengths.
