Ikea’s Smart Blinds Make Their Way To The US, Finally!
Ikea recently released its affordable smart blinds in the US.
As part of its push into smart home technology, Swedish furniture company Ikea has been offering products like Sonos speakers and smart lights.
In certain regions like Europe, Ikea has launched other smart products, such as Fyrtur smart blinds. Although this was supposed to come to the US a while ago, there have been multiple delays. However, the blinds are finally available in the US.
The blackout roller-style smart blinds are available in two different sizes and can be controlled via remote control. Since they are designed to be powered by a lithium-ion battery pack, they don’t require any power source. The battery used is removable and rechargeable.
A bonus is that you can use the Ikea Home smart app to control the blinds. You can also group the blinds together if you have multiple, and control them with one command. If you want, you can also set a schedule for the blinds to open and close by themselves. It currently has support for Google Home via the Trådfri gateway. Support for Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit is expected soon.
