Is A Smart Hub The Answering To Controlling Your Home With Amazon, Apple, and Google?
Routines by Google and Scenes by Apple are basically the same. The recent addition of support for Routines by Google has made it similar in some features to Amazon Echo. It groups several functions within one umbrella and can be activated with a single voice command. For the present, Google Assistant has only 6 Routines.
Automations requires a smart home hub to link all your smart connected devices. Some say cloud can also be used as a hub.
Those are valid thoughts, but the reality is that widespread IoT standards aren’t coming anytime soon, if ever. Using the cloud is great until your home’s internet connection goes down: In that case, a local copy of your smart home devices with automation rules running on a small computing device would work, but that essentially is a hub.
A hub can sense with the motion sensor that the user is home and switches on lights or other predefined functions. It is combining two or more actions to automate the systems and get work done. Currently, automation is the smartest in the market with the routines slightly less on the smart ladder.
