Is Building Actual Smart Homes The Next Logical Step For Amazon?
Thanks to Amazon’s two-day shipping policy, consumers look at Amazon for almost everything.
Additionally, Amazon now offers free in-home consulting on how to create a smart home. Many customers who have newer homes have created a smart home hub – where Amazon’s Alexa or Google’s Go are connected to the lights, music, front door lock, thermostat, video cameras, external security system and more. Customers are increasingly controlling their entire home with their voice through their smart home hub. Tech companies are competing to be the hub for that customer.
It would be the next logical step for Amazon start their own construction company to build smart homes. Amazon can be seen investing in a lot of areas in the smart home development sector. With Alexa, Amazon’s virtual assistant, it is possible to check the traffic, weather, schedule appointments, and more with just your voice. Amazon also purchased Ring, smart doorbell makers, for $1 billion.
Amazon offers in-home consulting services where the employees come to the house of the customer and tell them in detail about how they can go about making their home smart. They offer personalized consultations. Instead of putting up their smart devices in other builders’ houses, Amazon can invest into the whole process.
