Is Professional Installation A Significant Barrier When Purchasing Smart Home Locks?
A study by Kwikset tells us where professional installation services have any impact on the purchasing decision by the consumers.
Kwikset’s smart lock segmentation study took a look at potential shoppers to “better understand consumers who are in the market for smart locks and identify the segment(s) that provide the greatest opportunity for growth.”
The study found that professional installation was not a major concern or barrier for the purchase of the smart locks. Though this study was based on smart locks, it could easily give us a general idea of the smart home devices. The study divided the participants into five consumer groups where “Smart home savants”, making up 31% of the group, seemed to be happy with professionally installed smart devices.
Enthusiastic Adopters, at 26%, are among the early adopters and are likely to experiment with new gadgets. Good Life Gurus with 17% are just entering into this arena and are only likely to buy one product at one time. Super Moms and Dads makeup 10% of the group and are too busy to research but are open-minded. They are influenced by price and brand value. Passive Purchasers are interested in smart security devices but they take only one step at a time.
