Is Your Smartphone The Best Way To Run Your Smart Home?
About 80% of the consumers in the US prefer a smartphone to manage their smart home devices while 40% use smart speakers.
Since GfK last ran this survey in 2015, all devices have grown in terms of the percentage of consumers who see them as suitable smart home controllers, except smart speakers, which weren't around back then.
Though the sales dropped by a large margin in the last 3 years, the tablets grew by 10% points while the laptops grew by 15 points and smartphones by 20 points. Smart TVs, however, grew very less. The wearables hardly changed.
While Amazon Echo and Google Home are always ready to hear your voice commands and act on it, a smart TV might not always be turned on when you plan to give a command. On the other hand, though wearables, such as the Apple Watch are always ready and listening for a command, they are not very popular among the users.
