Kasa’s Support For Apple HomeKit Cancelled Despite Their CES 2019 Announcement
TP-Link announced in CES 2019 that it would be updating its Wi-Fi Plug Mini with HomeKit. This update will allow users to control the device with Siri. Recently, they mentioned that there would not be any support for HomeKit at all. The company announced,
“Despite the change in direction for this specific SKU, our team is committed to the development of innovative smart home solutions that will continue to delight our customers around the globe.”
While this does not mean that other HomeKit products will not receive support, it does seem that Siri was not exactly popular. So far, TP-Link has not mentioned products due to release offering HomeKit support. It will be known soon whether they have plans to continue with offering Siri support. Although there are many products in the market with Siri and HomeKit support, they are usually seen in higher-end products.
