More Than A Rebranding Effort, Google’s Smart Home Eco-System, With Their Nest Products, Will Appropriately Be Called Google Nest.
While Nest was integrated into the Google Home division, the complete group now has a new name – Google Nest. Besides an effort at rebranding, it also signifies new data privacy policies for Nest users. Google is trying to merge its smart home efforts, starting with Nest devices including the latest release called Google Nest Hub Max.
While Google and Nest integrated to start seamless operations, they are now working together to compete against Amazon, which has dominated the market from the start. According to the vice president of product at Google, the latest trend is AI.
Another challenge faced by Google Nest is that smart speakers and other devices need to be able to operate both personally as well as communally.
Google thinks it can do both by having its devices recognize our faces and voices to tailor experiences specific to each user, which is one of the big reasons the new Google Nest Hub Max has a camera.
Google also needs to work on its privacy policies. While Amazon faced the same issue when it purchased Ring, Google will now struggle to convince customers of its privacy policies. With Google Nest, the company is trying to work out better privacy policies while providing a secure service.
