New Era Of Commerce To Be Driven By Voice Payment Services Such As Google Pay And Amazon Pay
With advancements in AI, payments services are all set to change as well. Amazon Pay is working on voice payments in the retail market. Now, instead of navigating options when you pay for something, you can now do so with a simple voice command. Google is also working on improving its Google Pay platform.
These options by Amazon and Google are basically digital wallets that are secured with password or biometrics. While Amazon launched its payment system in 2007, it is now focusing on voice authentication for increased convenience. With AI-powered smart assistants becoming more and more popular, voice-based payment was only to be expected.
“We are going through one of those technology shifts that come around every 10 to 15 years. Now we believe there is a new era, which is powered by voice, and this will have a major impact on commerce.”
Those having Echo devices can buy from Amazon via Alexa. While Apple and Google are also working on voice payments, they don’t have retail partnerships that Amazon has. As making payments is becoming so much easier, concern for privacy and security is arising.
It is more important than ever that the voice assistants understand the context and intent of the user’s command. Recognizing each individual user is also important so as to prevent fraud. Biometric voice authentication is one possible solution.
