New SmartThings WiFi Will Learn Your Environment And Optimize Performance For A Powerful, Reliable Smart Home
Samsung’s latest SmartThings Wifi is a wireless mesh networking system that comes with a fully in-built home-automation hub. It not only controls smart-home devices via IP, Z-Wave, ZigBee, and Bluetooth, it also works to extend the Wi-Fi signals with Plume AI technology.
Plume, which sells its own Wi-Fi mesh networking products called Pods and SuperPods, says it uses cloud-based artificial intelligence (AI) to provide “stable and consistent Wi-Fi coverage and speed in every room within your home using blazing fast tri-band SuperPods coupled with auto-channel hop technology.”
The firm claims the system’s adaptive Wi-Fi technology understands and slowly learns your environment and optimizes the performance for a consistent home Wi-Fi experience. SmartThings Wifi is almost the exact system as the Samsung Connect Home released last year.
The Plume-powered model offers configurable guest Wi-Fi access and parental controls. It also provides performance tracking and connected-device monitoring.
Samsung says that the mesh Wi-Fi will provide good connectivity within 30 minutes of installation. The system will work on optimization to improve the speed of the network for the next 24 hours. It will allocate capacity to each room as needed. The revamped design includes magnetic ball mount for a wider view range.
