Partnering With Homebuilder Lennar, Amazon’s Alexa Finds A Home To Call Her Own
Amazon, in partnership with Lennar who is the largest builder in the US, are developing homes with Alexa-powered smart-home gadgets.
Anyone can visit these new "Amazon Experience Centers" to see what it's like to yell at a speaker to open the blinds, or push a button to order more toilet paper from Amazon Prime. The companies are launching the houses in 15 cities across the United States to start.
Lennar has already installed Alexa in all its new homes. With an Echo Dot and an Echo Show, the homeowners can change temperatures, lock doors, and turn off lights with just voice commands. The houses have a Ring video doorbell, a Sonos One speaker, a connected thermostat, including smart locks, and a Samsung SmartThings hub.
Though the Lennar homes have Echos at the base, most other devices present works on pretty much all smart-home platforms. The houses are sold with the wireless internet pre-installed. Every part of the houses get coverage and they include commercial grade access points as well. Lennar has also announced its plans of creating houses designed to work seamlessly with HomeKit, Apple's smart-home platform.
