Should ADT Be Concerned Over Ring (And Their Smart Video Doorbell) Being Acquired By Amazon?
After Amazon struck up a deal to acquire Ring, ADT has emerged to be the biggest loser here. The deal is estimated to have been priced at about $1 billion. As Amazon is stepping up on its delivery business, this could be a great connection.
A spokesperson said that the combined company is planning to connect camera and alarms and produce a new device and the loser in this scheme will be ADT. ADT will plunge down if this deal wipes out smart alarm devices. ADT takes thousands of dollars in fees for installations along with a high monthly maintenance charge for its services.
"People absolutely hate that company, and now there's new products that are coming out where there's nothing down, $20, $30 a month for the service to let the alarm company know, and you can install it yourself," he said.
As soon as Amazon announced its acquisition, the very next day ADT’s shares went down by 7%. ADT has not released any statements so far.
