Should Google Give Away The Google Home Mini To Compete With Amazon’s Smart Speaker Domination?
Earlier this week, Morgan Stanley said that Alphabet, Google’s parent company, should distribute Google Home Mini devices free of cost to disturb Amazon’s smart speaker market domination.
The company’s projections are pretty dramatic. Nowak estimated that Amazon will fully control more than 60 percent of the U.S. smart speaker market by the close of 2018, leaving Google in a distant second place at 33 percent.
This might cost them $3.3 billion. However, the main point of smart speakers is that they direct the users’ data and retail searches to the manufacturer’s services. It is projected that Alphabet will benefit by $44 billion in retail-search revenue by 2022 which means they will be making an exponential profit when compared to their initial investment.
Smart speakers not only channel e-commerce resources and data, they also act as the leash that ties the consumers to the manufacturer’s range of services. Fortune has also said that Google can integrate Mini to its latest YouTube Premium subscription service.
