Smart Home Company Partners With Walmart To Test In-Home Delivery Service
Walmart is now beginning its testing on its new services which will let the customers having August smart home devices. This service will allow their packages to be delivered inside their houses, rather than be left outside. The groceries will also be placed in the fridge, whenever needed!
An August smart lock will let the delivery person get into the house with a one-time entry pass. The customer will be notified of every step in this process with a message to their mobile phones. Deliv, a Walmart-owned delivery service, will be handling the deliveries. The price will be determined during the experiment.
In recent months, Walmart has also introduced a membership-free, 2-day shipping program; a pickup discount for those who ship-to-store; curbside grocery pickup and, in some places, delivery through a partnership with Uber. It has been testing other initiatives, too, like using Walmart store staff to drop off customers’ online orders while on their way home.
