Smart Homes Of The Future Being Built Today. Construction Companies Investing In IoT And Smart Home Technology.
Thanks to the rapid pace with which the technology is developing, smart homes are no longer a novel concept. IoT technologies include motion sensors that detect the movement of residents to turn a feature on or off, artificial intelligence speakers that can activate a washing machine, and curtains that can open and close depending on the mode.
The companies are now focusing on building customized connectivity between the users and the devices. Samsung C&T is opening an apartment showroom showcasing IoT featuring about 20 devices in all areas of a house. All these devices are connected to the main IoT cloud. As of now, only a limited number of devices can activate the smart home system but the company is working on partnering with more companies.
Hyundai E&C and its affiliate concern Hyundai AutoEver are working together to create an IoT platform. GS E&C developed Xi Server, a smart home system based on their own AI technology. However, the company partnered with Kakao for voice recognition features.
Naver, for its part, is promoting its AI platform Clova and working with such companies as Daewoo E&C.
SK Telecom, Daelim Industrial, KT’s Giga Genie platforms are all working on creating smart home systems which offer an integrated smart home experience.
