Smart Hub May Be The Key To Win The Smart Home Race
Smart home automation now goes beyond the basic smart functions of customizing lighting and temperature, motion detection, capturing and sending images and videos. It’s more about driving customer experience; like keeping a check on your refrigerator to order milk online, to customizing your diet plan based on the fitness tracker report.
Hence companies are focusing and investing more in the central hub which drives the retail ordering. Amazon’s Alexa is leading this space followed by Google’s Home and Apple’s HomeKit at a distant third. Both Amazon and Google are integrating the retailers with faster delivery low cost membership like Prime and Express respectively. Retailers need to actively partner with Amazon and Google to offer products and services available on their smart home device platforms.
If retailers are not actively trying to build partnerships and relationships with manufacturers and brands that are creating smart devices, or at the least offering services to consumers in how to buy, implement and maintain smart homes, they may find themselves out in the cold, looking in on a brighter future.
