SPLICE Is Using Research And Experience To Figure Out How To Make Smart Devices Secure
With the rise in the adoption of smart home devices, it has become more important to ensure that all products are secure enough to prevent security breaches. Multiple academic institutions are in the race to fix the issues that have been coming up in different smart home products. These institutions have been carrying in-depth research about smart home devices and trying to offer better security. The team is known as SPLICE (Security and Privacy in the Lifecycle of IoT for Consumer Environments).
SPLICE intends to develop a toolkit designed to identify so-called non-cooperative smart devices to help users understand how their home tech works.
This toolkit is designed to help easily identify the devices that have privacy concerns. The team has future plans to develop simple products that can easily integrate with smart home devices in order to have a secure experience. They are also developing programs aimed at encouraging the underrepresented groups to build a career around computers.
