The Future Where Smart Devices Will Connect Via Brainwaves Is Here!
Wearables are gaining popularity by the day. The latest models come with AR (augmented reality) enabled glasses, headware, sensors, and more. While the devices of today communicate information via the internet, the next ideas in the wearables industry might be a little different. Nūrio is an upcoming device that is to be worn on the ears and will connect users to devices through brainwaves.
According to the company, “nūrio is the world’s smallest wearable consumer EEG (electroencephalogram) device that slips over the ear like a headphone and provides consumers with app- and cloud-based command capabilities to control any IoT-enabled device integrated on the nūrio cloud.”
Since it works by using the brainwaves, there is no need for any voice commands. It streams the data gathered from the users’ mental activity through Bluetooth to the smartphone app. The connected device thought can be triggered either by using the app or by two long eye blinks and the user can then think of the device they want to control. The configurations can be simply thought and confirmed by blink gestures. The best part about it is the fact that it does not require any specific software to work.
Although the first application of this might be home automation, the company has plans of introducing it in the industry as well. Industrial applications with this could be operating computers at distances and controlling machinery hands-free. The product is expected to release in mid-2020.
