The ‘One Controller To Rule Them All’ Is No More. What Does Logitech Killing Off The Harmony Remote Mean?
Logitech, one of the best tech manufacturers, introduced a remote named Harmony that could control multiple devices, a dream come true for many of us a few years ago.
With its own interface and touchscreen and deep bank of devices burned into its digital brain.
Since then, multiple other universal remotes have been manufactured. Logitech recently announced that it is officially discontinuing the Harmony line of universal remotes which has caused grief to various users across the globe. The devices were being termed as ‘the mouse of the digital house’. One could control PlayStation, Xbox 360, and a wide range of DVD players in addition to television systems.
There are still small repair shops where people frequently go to get their remotes repaired. Though the parts are not readily available, there were always sources from where parts could be procured. One of the main things that killed this little remote is the smart home systems. Some standards kept changing from time to time which caused the remote to break and not work with newer devices. It is time that everyone starts thinking smart and adapt to the smart world out there!
