The Role Of The Amazon Dash Wand Has Been Taken Over By Echo, Support For Alexa Shopping Device Ends
If you have heard of the Amazon Dash Wand, then it is already time to forget this device. The tech giant has finally announced that this Alexa-based product scanner is going off support soon. Amazon…
…is remotely bricking them so they can’t be used at all and asking owners to send their Wands to Amazon’s recycling program, according to an email sent to Wand owners and shared with Voicebot.
Coming back to the device, the Dash Wand was released back in 2017. It was used to scan products using the in-built barcode scanner and then asking Alexa to order the products over Amazon. Though the Wand priced at $50, several devices were given away to users as part of a subscription to Amazon Fresh and other deals. One of the main reasons for ceasing support for these devices was that the Echo and Echo Show product lines had already taken over most of the features that the Dash Wand could perform.
