The Smarter, Simpler Clock! FluidClock Is Making A Better Alarm Clock.
Surprisingly, despite having a smartphone within reach at all times, the idea of a smart clock has grabbed attention. A Reddit user posted the idea along these lines and everyone was very interested! They were looking for beta testers on a working prototype. FluidClock is a Canada-based start-up by Casperboi, the Reddit user.
Key features of the FluidClock are its simple, personalizable face, automatic time-setting over a Wi-Fi connection, and an ability to display additional information like train times, weather forecasts and stocks, or more personal data like your YouTube subscriber stats. It also senses ambient light to switch to a night mode, and has a fully granular alarm system for setting them exactly how you want, for each day of the week.
There are 10 prototypes of this clock made with a 3D printer where each one takes about 20 hours. Those who saw the posts gave some interesting ideas for features like including a battery back-up, gradual wake-up routines, access through the web, and so much more! An excellent suggestion by one user was to set future holidays so that we don’t have to work it out later.
Soon, the users started asking for so many more features like integration with voice assistants, Philips Hue lights, IFTTT, and Spotify. Too many features in something does not do anybody good.
