Top IoT Trends Across Every Sector In 2021
2020 was a year to forget for most of the world, but for the tech companies, this was not the case. They continued to innovate and were forced to make alterations to plans that they had laid out. The focus was more towards making the world a better place. Here are a few IoT innovations that were to 2020’s credit. With the pandemic, the biggest improvement was in the healthcare sector. IoT was used in as many ways as possible to avoid any human errors and to assist with the shortage of doctors that every country around the world experienced. Smart home offices were another place where IoT was implemented as most of the companies started moving to a work-from-home culture.
Edge computing was another hot topic in 2020.
Edge computing is when an IoT device transmits its data to a nearby storage device instead of to the cloud.
The local storage device then receives, processes, and filters the data and sends it over to the cloud resulting in lower bandwidth usage. IoT also stepped up in the smart retail sector where most of the physical stores were forced to shut their doors. An online platform for these sectors was born. Last but not the least, with a spike in the demand for smart home devices, it was important for IoT to grow in the cybersecurity sector. The securities were tightened across multiple devices throughout the year.
