In order to grow its footprint in the property management technology space, Amazon has launched its new Alexa for Residential service, which it believes will make it easier for property managers to set up Alexa-enabled devices to manage in residential buildings such as condos and apartment complexes.

“Smart home” means different things to different people. For some, it’s the convenience of an internet-connected thermostat or the light bulb they control with a smartphone. For others, it’s a life-changing series of integrated systems, complex programming and automation routines that operate with little user intervention. And for others still, it can mean everything in between.

Google Assistant’s feature, Voice Match, can recognize the voices of up to six different people. That way, once it’s taught each person’s voice, allows people to ask the same Google or Nest device, like a Nest Hub Max, about their calendar events, and receive an answer relevant to them. The system works with all other Google Assistant-compatible smart speakers, too.
