Toyota And Panasonic Have Plans To Work Together To Create Smart Homes That Connect Vehicles To Smart Devices And Transportation Data
Toyota, like many others in the automobile industry, is looking for a new source of revenue for the company besides manufacturing vehicles.
The company been branching out into robotics and now wants to push further into the growing market for homes that can connect with cars, appliances and services via the internet.
Toyota has plans to partner with Panasonic to develop smart homes and cities. This will bring together Misawa Homes, the construction subsidiary of Toyota, and Toyota Housing’s development unit with Panasonic Homes. Both companies are planning on working together to increase their competitiveness and value in the Japanese housing market.
Toyota Housing has sold more than 100,000 houses in the last four decades. Toyota, like other automakers, is now investing in tech that could connect vehicles to connected devices and road infrastructure.
This partnership with Panasonic might help the company compete against Uber, Google, and Tesla. Not only this, but Toyota has also tried its hand with healthcare, household jobs, and ride-sharing business.
Besides Toyota, Volkswagen and Microsoft, Volvo and Uber, Renault-Nissan and Fiat Chrysler with Google have formed alliances to work together.
