Wearable Smart Devices Are Trending! And Pampers Just Jumped On Board With Their Line Of Smart Diapers.
Pampers recently developed a “connected care system” that is designed to track the baby’s activity thanks to a diaper that comes with sensors. The system, called Lumi, sends a notification to the user’s app when the diaper is soiled. It also records details on when the baby is sleeping and when it is awake, allowing the parents to track its cycle. Lumi comes equipped with a video monitor as well. The launch of this product indicates a rise in the baby tech sector. There have been smart night lights, bassinets, pacifiers, and other products like an app that copies and repeats the sound of a parent shushing.
It is predicted that interactive baby monitor market by itself will be responsible for $2.5 billion in the next five years. With so many smart options for babies and toddlers, parents must now decide on the best way to raise kids in a connected world. With the increase in smart devices, privacy concerns are also triggered by social media and connected devices. Even a child requires basic privacy and that line should never be crossed with trackers and sensors.
There are dozens of examples of baby or child monitors being hacked or otherwise compromised, including an incident reported by The Washington Post earlier this year in which a Nest Cam installed in a child’s room began playing pornography.
