What Elements Can Make A Smart Home Smarter?
Home automation has been popular for quite some time, but the actual boost has been given by Google, Alexa, Apple, and others.
Whereas terms such as ‘Home Energy Systems’, ‘Home Automation Systems’, or ‘Home Management Systems’ were relatively common amongst a number of people, it was this influx of consumer technology that led to a new term being born – the ‘smart home’ which has led to a wider acceptance and the biggest change in this sector.
While smart homes were a rarity a few years ago, Telsyte, an Australian emerging technology analyst firm, says that the market is set to hit $5.3 billion by 2023. The Telsyte study found that more than half of the Australian homes had at least one IoT device at the end of 2018. The average households are expected to have about 37 smart devices by 2023.
A device can only be regarded as smart as its users. This means good installation, good solutions, and every other aspect make a difference. If the machine or device needs manual intervention at every step, then it is probably not a good smart home solution. The way we use the device makes a difference rather than the actual device itself that we use. This could be achieved by having a transparent communication between the homeowner and the solution provider. Instead of using individual smart devices, the best way would be to use a smart home system, such as KNX.
