While Privacy Still A Concern, Confidence In Smart Home Technology Is Reflected In Upward Sales Trend
More and more people are getting interested in smart home technology. The influential factors here, according to them, is the technology’s futuristic appeal. Another study by an AI-powered consumer insights company, Crimson Hexagon, revealed that the smart home technology received a huge boost in 2013. The post volume leaped from 25,000 in 2012 to over 250,000 in 2017. The sentiment also started to sway towards smart tech with 60% in favor of it.
The study also took a look at the emotional responses people have when thinking about smart home technology, and how those emotions have changed over time. Joy was the most dominant emotion tracked, while sadness slowly decreased in most years.
Lighting, HVAC, Security, Entertainment, and Voice Assistants are the main components of a smart home. Lighting and security are more popular with voice assistants coming up in the recent years. The study also talked about the positive and negative consumer sentiments towards these components. Lighting had a positive sentiment though smart security did not do that well. Energy efficiency and convenience are reasons why many go for smart homes while the expensive cost and privacy concerns are some reasons which are holding back other consumers.
