Wi-Fi 6 Is Going To Drastically Change The Way Routers Handle The Expanding Number Of Smart Devices In Our Homes
With Wi-Fi 6, speed and range will get a significant boost. Apart from this, it will reform the manner in which routers deal with the increasing number of connected devices. It will offer a speed that is approximately 30% faster than the previous model with maximum transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps.
Popular brands like Asus, Netgear, and TP-Link have already launched Wi-Fi 6 routers with mesh options set for release later this year. This was developed by IEEE members and the institute basically acts as the keeper of Wi-Fi.
The updated model lets routers communicate better with devices and users while using less power. They will also be able to send a lot more information with every signal. Wi-Fi 5 routers are 256-QAM while the new model will be 1024-QAM.
OFDMA is a new feature with Wi-Fi 6 that gives your router the ability to serve multiple clients at once within a single channel.
Wi-Fi 6 access points will also work better with scheduling devices and when each one should wake up. This keeps devices from interfering and save battery since they will not be in use until woken up, thanks to the Target Wake Time feature. Wi-Fi Alliance will start offering certification for devices only in late 2019.
